In March of 1972, two immigrant brothers from Poland, John and Gene Luszcz, opened a small neighborhood deli specializing in homemade smoked sausage and other Polish delicacies. In 1980, their gaining popularity led them to open up their second shop. Known for its 40 varieties of smoked sausages, fresh meats, prepared meals, and imported European delicacies, the shop boasted a life-size cow sculpture. They had special artisans from Europe to make authentic handmade sausages. They were also well-known for theskilfully butchered meat straight from the cooler, served to their customers, keeping their authenticity. They were trendy among the media for their delicacy and featured on the Frugal Gourmet Show, 190 North, Taste, Fox News, and numerous publications.

Gene’s Sausage shop now has imported specialties under their banners like the fruit-shaped marzipan baskets, Dutch chocolate clogs, pflaumenmuss, and elderberry syrup; to the savory: harzerkase, lefse bread, farmer’s spaetzle, smoked fish, and cured herring in jars. Their delicatessen serves daily delicacies from their kitchen, including cabbage rolls, schnitzel, spicy Hungarian goulash, blintzes, stuffed duck, grilled sausages. They have an extensive catering menu that can be customized according to the nature of the event.

“While I was looking for a German Deli near me, I came across this place, which is an all-in-one destination for your love for European and Polish delicacies. Their grocery shop has a remarkable cow sculpture in front of it. They have so many varieties of sausages that I have seemed to lose count of. The meat is fresh and taken out in front of us. Their wine, cheese, bakery, and gourmet products have never disappointed us. I’m a Polish Exchange Student, and I always come here when I miss home. Their Rooftop deck is worth an experience with a beer and a homemade sausage.”
